Master Planned Agricultural and Renewable Energy Bioresources Communities
OJI Califco Consortium, Inc., provided full development planning services for the above project. The project concept is the developm ent of the 5,833 hectares into a Master Planned self-sustaining agricultural farm, food processing community with its own integrated hybrid microgrid energy system that is sustained from locally available renewable energy feedstock. OJI Califco Consortium Inc., and 4 High Habitat Solutions Limited have entered into a Joint Venture Agreement for the development of Self-sustaining agricultural farms and energy communities in Nigeria under a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) – OJI HABITAT RESOURCES LIMITED (See Attached Joint Venture Agreement).
OJI HABITAT RESOURCES LIMITED Master Planned Agricultural and Renewable Energy Bioresources Communities are self-sustainable agricultural and energy bioresource communities modeled after the classical Farm Settlement Communities. The main purpose of establishing the self- sustaining agricultural farms and bioresource energy communities are to facilitate the national objectives of attaining food sufficiency, providing youth employment opportunities and creating mechanized farming system that will be driven by Trained Youths as a means of youth empowerment, wealth creation, improving the agricultural value chain through processing of agricultural products on site prior to export and commercial distribution. To ensure power for agro-processing, the communities will be powered by Integrated Hybrid Renewable and Sustainable Energy Microgrids.
The Agricultural Farm Settlement Community is a hybrid of a traditional farm settlement community with a focus on the empowerment of youth and women operating under local cooperative financial system, practicing organic farming using organic fertilizer produced from the integration of organic animal manure waste, fishery waste and compost processed with modern agricultural equipment. Agriculture plays an important role in the state’s economy; Agriculture plays an important role in the state’s economy. The soil and climate in Enugu State can sustain the following crops: yams, oil palm products, taro, corn (maize), rice, and cassava (manioc) are the main food crops are yams, oil palm products, taro, corn (maize), rice, and cassava (manioc) are the main crops. The main cash crops are palm oil and cashews.
